The statistics and Actuarial Science Graduate Award fund has been established to (i) receive contributions received under the Senate Graduate Scholarships program and designated to the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, (ii) to serve as a general account for different awards set up by the department of Statistics and Actuarial Science.
Program
This award commemorates the pioneering work of Dr. R.S. Dorney, a founding member of the School of Planning (1967 - 1987), who worked in the field of applied urban and regional human ecology and environmental management. He applied the science of ecology to further our understanding of the human environment. The award is for a PhD student enrolled in the Faculty of Environment who will be studying in the field pioneered by Dr. Dorney.
An annual scholarship valued at $2,000 will be awarded annually to a full-time graduate student enrolled in the Department of Biology in the Faculty of Science, working in the area of ecology. Preference will be given to students who do not hold another major award. This fund is made possible by the family and friends of Dr. Noel Hynes, first permanent Chair of the Department of Biology.
Global Governance Doctoral Fellowships, valued between $25,000 - $35,000 annually, will be awarded to eligible graduate students who are registered full time in their first year of the PhD Global Governance program in the Faculty of Arts or Faculty of Environment.
An award, valued at approximately $1,500 will be provided annually to a graduate student registered full time in a course-based Master's degree program in the Department of Management Sciences in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Waterloo.
An award valued at $1500, will be provided annually to a graduate student who had previously been living in India.
Perimeter Institute (Pl) Residency Graduate Scholarships are available to PhD students registered full time at the University of Waterloo for up to a maximum of four years.
Awards valued at $1,200 will be awarded annually to full-time graduate students enrolled in the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) program in the Faculty of Engineering on the basis of demonstrated energy, inclusivity, and interest in supporting fellow students with their academic and business endeavours, while also exhibiting an entrepreneurial passion in pursuit of their own projects.
Several awards will be presented annually to full-time undergraduate or graduate students in the School of Architecture who enrolled in ARCH 473, ARCH 493, ARCH 671 or ARCH 691.
The Mathematics Doctoral Prizes valued at $1500, $1000 and $500 are given annually to recognize the achievement of graduating doctoral students in the Faculty of Mathematics.
