Award description:
An award valued at $9,000, will be provided annually to a graduate student registered full-time in the master's or doctoral program in the Department of Biology in the Faculty of Science. Selection will be based on academic achievement (minimum 80% cumulative average) over the last two full-time academic years and interest in the biology and/or management of freshwater and/or diadromous fishes in Canada.

Value description:
The value of the awards will be determined by the income generated by the Fund each year. The goal is to provide at least one award valued at $9,000 annually to a Doctoral student, and at least one award valued at $7,000 to a Master’s student annually. If a doctoral candidate cannot be identified, then two awards valued at $7,000 will be awarded to Master’s students. The value and/or number of awards may change from year to year.

Eligibility & selection criteria: 

  • Full-time graduate students registered in the master's or doctoral program in the Department of Biology in the Faculty of Science
  • Selection to be based on academic achievement and interest in the biology and/or management of freshwater and/or diadromous fishes in Canada
  • Students must not be concurrently receiving a major scholarship (e.g., tri-agency)
  • Application is not required
  • Department of Biology will identify candidates and select recipients normally each Winter
