Award description:
A scholarship valued at $2,000, will be awarded annually to a graduate student registered full-time in the first year of either a Master's or Doctoral program in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management in the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo. This fund is made possible by donations from friends and family of Dr. Bruce Mitchell, in honour of his outstanding career at the University of Waterloo.

Value description:
The value of the Award will be determined by the income generated by the Fund each year. The goal is to provide at least one Award valued at $2,000 annually. The value and/or number of Awards may change from year to year.
Eligibility & selection criteria:
- Full-time graduate students registered in the first year of their Master's or Doctoral program in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management in the Faculty of Environment.
- Students conducting research in the area of Environment and Resource Management.
- Selection will be based on demonstrated academic excellence (i.e. minimum cumulative average of 80%).
- Students interested in being considered for this scholarship must submit a one-page statement (max. 500 words) outlining how their research topic connects to the general theme of Environment and Resource Management to the GEM Graduate Program Administrator by January 31st.
- The Department of Geography and Environmental Management will identify candidates and select recipients, normally in the winter term.
