Award description:
The awards, valued at a minimum of $1,000 will be provided annually to a full-time doctoral student registered in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Waterloo whose research in structural engineering aims to advance the analytical and/or numerical technologies and has the greatest potential for impact either at the societal or theoretical level. 

This scholarship has been established by the past students, friends and family in memory of Professor Donald E. Grierson.

Eligibility & selection criteria:
  • Must be a full-time doctoral student registered in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, in the Faculty of Engineering whose research in structural engineering aims to advance the analytical and/or numerical technologies and has the greatest potential for impact either at the societal or theoretical level. 
  • Must be in good academic standing (minimum 80%).
  • Preference will be given to international students.
  • Preference will be given to students who do not hold major external scholarships exceeding $15,000 per year at the time of being considered.
