Award description:
An award, valued at $1,500, is available annually for an Indigenous undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in any year or Faculty at the University of Waterloo. To be considered, students must have completed the Indigenous Verification section in Quest and have had their Indigenous identity verified by the Office of lndigenous Relations. Selection will be based on demonstrated connection and/or contributions to Indigenous communities through extracurricular and/or volunteer activities. Preference will be given to students who aspire to give back to their communities in the future. Candidates must have a minimum cumulative academic average of 70%. Interested students must submit the applicable undergraduate or graduate student award application by February 1. This fund is made possible by a donation from George and Cathy Raithby to help Indigenous students achieve their academic goals.

Eligibility & selection criteria:
- Indigenous undergraduate students enrolled in any year in any Faculty at the University of Waterloo.
- Indigenous graduate students registered in a master's or doctoral program in any Faculty at the University of Waterloo.
- An Indigenous person is one who is a citizen or member of a First Nations community (Status/Non-Status), Metis, and/or Inuit. To be considered for this award, students must have completed the Indigenous Verification section in Quest and have had their Indigenous identity verified by the Office of lndigenous Relations at the University of Waterloo.
- Candidates must have a minimum cumulative average of 70%.

- Student Awards and Financial Aid (SAFA) and Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) will select recipients, normally each Winter.
