Award description:
Awards valued at up to $7,500 will be awarded annually to students who are or will be registered full time in the Master’s program in the School of Architecture in the Faculty of Engineering. Selection is based on academic achievement combined with merit of the proposed research project as outlined in a 1-page proposal; applicants must describe the intended research project, travel requirements to complete the intended research, and a budget of expected costs. Students interested in applying must submit an application form that can be found on the School of Architecture website, by the deadline advertised, normally each winter. This award was established in memory of Jenny Francis (MArch ’02) through the generous support of her family to provide assistance for research travel.

Value description:
The value of the Award will be determined by the income generated by the Fund each year. The goal is to provide one or two awards annually valued at up to $7,500 each. The value and/or number of Awards may change from year to year. The first Award will be paid from the endowment when the fund can sustain an award of $2,500.

Eligiblity & selection criteria:
- Students who are or will be registered full-time in the Master of Architecture program in the School of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering in the winter term (i.e., term in which award is issued).
- The student must submit an award application available on the School of Architecture website, with the student providing a description of the activity, budget and expected outcomes of their travel/research activity.
- Selection will be based on the merit of the activity and the articulation of its value to the student’s research.
- The value of the award will be determined by the School of Architecture based on the funds available, domestic vs. international travel, and duration of research trip. International travel and longer research trips may result in higher awarded amount.
- Candidates must have a minimum overall average in their current or last completed program of 75% or equivalent.
- The School of Architecture will select recipients normally each Winter.
- Students are not able to receive this award more than once.
