Award description:
Pure Math Doctoral Thesis Completion Awards are available each academic term to support doctoral students registered full-time who are within term limits of their program and who are within the last two terms of program completion. Selection will be made by a committee chaired by the Associate Chair Graduate Studies in the Department of Pure Mathematics, based on the student’s application for the Doctoral Thesis Completion Award

Eligibility & selection criteria: 

  • Applicants must be registered full-time within term limits of their doctoral program in the Department of Pure Math.
  • Applicants must be in good academic standing and be on track to complete their degree within 1-2 terms of receiving the award (term of award plus one additional term).
  • Students must not be holding a major scholarship (i.e., in excess of $5,000 per term).
  • Students must not have previously received the institutional Doctoral Thesis Completion Award managed through Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) or Faculty equivalent, as applicable.
  • Students may not concurrently hold the GSPA Doctoral Thesis Completion Award.
  • Students will not normally be in receipt of university employment (e.g., Teaching Assistantship) in the same term as receiving this scholarship.
  • Selection will be made by a committee chaired by the Associate Chair Graduate Studies in the Department of Pure Mathematics, based on the student’s application for GSPA’s Doctoral Thesis Completion Award.
