Award description:
Two scholarships valued at up to $10,000 each, will be awarded annually to incoming or current graduate students who will be or who are registered full-time in the Master of Mathematics in Data Science or Master of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence program in the Faculty of Mathematics. Preference will be given to students who identify as Black or Indigenous or are of  Latin American ethnic or cultural origin. Selection will be based on academic excellence (80% cumulative average in previously completed or current postsecondary degree) and statement of research/study interest. Interested students should complete a scholarship application form found on the Graduate Data Science Website and submit it by April 15th. A committee chaired by the Graduate Officer of the Data Science program will make the selection annually in the Spring term based on information provided in the scholarship application and the application for admission to the program. This fund is made possible by a donation from Scotiabank.

Eligibility & selection criteria: 

  • Graduate students who will be or who are registered full time in the Master of Mathematics in Data Science or Master of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence program
  • Preference given to students who identify as Black or Indigenous or are of Latin American ethnic or cultural origin.
  • Selection to be based on academic excellence (80% cumulative average in previously completed or current postsecondary degree). Application needs to include an updated CV and statement of research/study interest.
  • Interested prospective and current students must complete and submit the scholarship application form found on the Graduate Data Science Website by April 15th.
  • The Scholarship will be paid across three full time academic terms.
  • Selection will be done by a committee chaired by the Graduate Officer of the Data Science program annually in April based on information provided in the scholarship application and the application for admission to the program.
