A message from the Sustainability Office.
The Sustainability Action Fund is now accepting applications for projects and initiatives that advance sustainability on campus. Projects must align with Waterloo’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy or any of its connected action plans, with successful applications determined by the President’s Advisory Committee on Environmental Sustainability (PACES).
For fall 2025, two types of projects will be funded:
- General sustainability projects: Students and employees are encouraged to submit creative ideas that make progress on Waterloo’s sustainability goals. Applicants can request $2,000-$20,000 under this stream.
- Student innovation projects: There are five (5) grants of up to $2,000 to support student projects in this stream. Eligible projects must be part of a student project connected to the University through academics, co-curricular programs, or entrepreneurship, support a goal in Waterloo’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy, and consider logistics and long-term feasibility on campus.
Applications are due by Friday, October 17. For more information, to see recently funded projects, and to request an application form, please visit the Sustainability Action Fund webpage.
