What is Terminal?

Terminal is a novel games-based AI challenge for top engineering students. In Terminal, students code strategies to automate play of a tower-defense style video game and compete against other engineers. Let’s create safe space to discuss stigma we experience and how we can enable mutual advocacy through our shared wisdom. Join us for a dialogue exchange. Here we will collaboratively engage in a sharing circle modeled from indigenous practices and guided by a trained facilitator. Come hold some space with us. Space is limited! Light refreshments provided. All Engineering Graduate Students welcome.

There is an increasing trend in the electric utilities to perform real-time simulation of power systems to test their protection and control hardware. The real-time simulation can become prohibitively expensive for large power systems. A solution to this is to divide the system into an internal system where all details are important and an external system (the rest of the system) where some details are not important.

Teams have each chosen an important industry problem, and will now pitch their research to a panel of judges for a chance to win up to $30k in grant funding. The 5-minute pitches will demonstrate each competitor’s knowledge of their problem’s history, scope, and impact.
