Electrical and computer engineering professor Alfred Yu is one of 22 new fellows selected by the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) for their “exceptional contributions to engineering.” His official fellowship induction will take place in April at the EIC’s annual gala.
Yu is a biomedical engineer with research expertise in ultrasound imaging innovation and therapeutic ultrasound discoveries. He also serves as a research scientist at the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for the Aging, as an associate director for the Centre for Bioengineering and Biotechnology, and as a thematic lead for the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology.
In 2021, Yu was recognized as one of Canada’s most promising researchers by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) when he was selected as one of six countrywide winners of the E.W.R. Steacie Memorial Fellowship.
