Anurag Anand Devadiga, a PhD student in electrical and computer engineering, is the recipient of the 2021 CIGRE Canada Conference & Expo Next Generation Network best paper award for his work, under the supervision of Professor Shesha Jayaram, "The influence of transient parameters on the ageing of transformer turn-to-turn paper-oil insulation."

Electrical and computer engineering PhD student, Hari Govind VK, has been awarded a Microsoft Research PhD Fellowship. Only 45 people are honoured worldwide each year for this prestigious fellowship.  This year, Hari is the only recipient from a Canadian institution.

The Microsoft Research PhD Fellowship is a global program that identifies and empowers the next generation of exceptional computing research talent.

Frank Baylis and Kris Shah announce huge deal for the cardiology devices business they built

A company that is co-owned by former classmates at Waterloo Engineering has hit pay dirt with the sale of its cardiology business for US $1.75 billion.

Professor Claudio Cañizares has been appointed the Executive Director of the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy (WISE), for a term running from August 1, 2021 to July 31, 2026.
