Biography

Patrick Mitran received the bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from McGill University, Montreal, PQ, Canada, in 2001 and 2002, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA, in 2006. From 2006 to 2007, he was a Lecturer in applied mathematics with the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Harvard University. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada. His current research interests include information theory and wireless communications, cross-layer design, and signal processing for 5G. He was a recipient of the Government of Ontario Early Researcher Award in 2011. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario. From 2012 to 2016, he served as an Editor for the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON COMMUNICATIONS. From 2016 to 2019, he served as an Associate Editor for the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INFORMATION THEORY.
