Training requirements

As a new graduate student, you are required to complete mandatory training to support a safe, responsible and successful start to your program. Please review the requirements below and complete each training requirement within the specified timelines.


Health and Safety Training

All graduate students must complete the University of Waterloo’s mandatory health and safety training and submit their training completion documentation to the Department. Additional training may be required depending on your research activities.

Additional training

Depending on your research activities, you may need training in areas such as biosafety, chemical handling or radiation safety. Consult your supervisor to determine your specific requirements.

Mandatory health and safety training must be completed, and your training completion documentation submitted to the Department, no later than September 30.

Academic Integrity Training 

Academic Integrity Graduation Icon

All graduate students must complete the Graduate Academic Integrity Module on Waterloo LEARN. The module must be completed by the end of the second month of your first term. Failure to complete the module by the deadline will prevent you from adding courses in your second term.
