The emergency planning coordinator at the University of Waterloo manages the university’s preparedness and response for any type of natural disaster or human caused emergency. The university’s emergency planning coordinator operates jointly under the director of police services and the director of the safety office. The emergency planning coordinator will strive to provide the University of Waterloo community strong leadership, internal and external collaborations, improved emergency communication and continuous improvement as it relates to emergency planning. The goal of emergency planning is to ensure the university takes all practical measures to prepare for or mitigate any potential emergency, to provide training for members of the university community on how to respond in an emergency and to assist in managing recovery operations following an emergency.
