The Nominating and Elections Committee oversees FAUW elections, and works to find the best-suited people to represent FAUW members on the Board and on University and joint committees. This committee is a recent expansion of the Elections Committee.
Seeking at least one to three more members for a two-year term starting immediately. Preference will go to applicants from the faculties of: Health, Math and Science.
What's involved?
The Nominating and Elections Committee meets occasionally (as needed) throughout the year and more frequently in the lead-up to FAUW elections (February/March). There is also online discussion between and in place of meetings.
Committee members actively recruit candidates for the Board of Directors and committees, and then review applications for FAUW representative openings and provide a provisional ranking of top candidates with a written rationale, ensuring that all applications remain confidential.
The Committee also reviews election procedures annually, recommends changes to the FAUW Board as needed, and oversees and assists the FAUW Communications Officer with carrying out FAUW elections.
Please see the committee terms of reference for more information. Note that you can't run in a FAUW election while serving on the Nominating and Elections Committee, but committee members can apply to represent FAUW members in any other capacity so long as they recuse themselves from discussions about that position.
