Soheila Esfahani is a Waterloo Fine Arts Alumna (BA 2003). Her current art practice navigates the terrains of cultural translation and draws on her experience of living in both Western and Eastern (Iranian) cultures. Her work is represented in public and private collections including the Canada Council’s Art Bank. She was nominated for the Jameel Prize at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, UK in 2015.
Soheila is also a lecturer in the Studies in Islam program at Renison College.
The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
