Submissions for the New Brush With Art competition

A new Brush With Art Award has been created this year.

This year students are asked to submit work and, from these entries, three works will be selected to be displayed in three different locations on campus, for 1 year (March 2024-April 2025). Each winner is awarded with $500!

In collaboration with the University of Waterloo’s President’s Office, the Tatham Centre (Co-op Building), and the Dean of Arts’ Office, the Department of Fine Arts announces a Call for Submissions for the 2024 Brush With Art Awards! 

Criteria for submitting work…

• Maximum of 3 entries per student (a series of work counts as 1)
• The work must be able to be hung on the wall (venues are not equipped to show ‘in-the-round’ work)
• Works cannot protrude from the wall any more than 20 cm (for safety reasons)
• Size: No more than 1.75 m high x 2.5 m wide
• Submissions can be a series of pieces, with total measurements not exceeding the above size

Please note this competition is ONLY open to undergraduate student.

Submissions must be installed in The Artery Gallery, between Monday, March 18 at 1pm and Wednesday, March 20 at 8:30am.

Note: Pins will be available in the room to place work on designated spots and assistance will be available for students who need assistance to hang work using nails, screw/screwdrivers, etc. Any questions regarding installations or assistance in installation can be made to j24mason@uwaterloo.ca

Winners will be announced at the Fine Arts Award ceremony on March 21st!
