Graduating students from the Department of Fine Arts will present a performance piece MOTUS II.

The show will take place at the Kitchener Public Library Theatre on June 23rd from 6:30-8:30. There will also be an Art show and sale located in the reception area of the theatre.

Any personal property not picked up by 8:30 AM on August 5, 2016 will be THROWN IN THE GARBAGE.

If you wish to keep your stuff (artwork, personal belongings and raw materials) you must pick up it all up before Trash day! Anything left in the: studios, lockers, hallways, cubbies, alcoves and closets will be thrown out on Friday, August 5, 2016.

Referencing the study of rapid eye movements (saccades) and short, subsequent stops in between (fixations), Fixations & Saccades brings together a selection of recent work by six multidisciplinary artists whose process is grounded in abstraction.

• bring your own paper, drawing board and art materials
• no late-comers, doors close by 6:45 pm
• sessions are free, supervised and non-instructional
• models will be unclothed

On Friday September 16 the Faculty of Arts will host a teach-a-thon from 10 am to 2:30 pm in the new Hagey Hub. The theme of the teach-a-thon is rape culture. Fourteen professors will each give a 15-minute talk on aspects of their research or expertise that bear on this theme.

The talks are intended to be accessible and engaging to anyone from first-year students to graduate students and colleagues. People are welcome to drop by and listen for as long as their schedules permit.

The Visual Culture of Berlin (FINE 293/393 or GER 298) 

Discover the visual culture of Berlin as we explore the city’s architecture, museums, historical sites, parks, artists’ studios, cuisine, and other attractions. The course consists of on-campus classes and 10-day trip to Berlin (February 16-26, 2017).

All students in good standing are eligible – there are no prerequisites for the course.

We are happy to have 2006 Fine Arts alumni, visual artist Lauren Hall, return to the department to give a talk on her work.

Already dreading the end of the summer?  Missing the sun's rays so soon?  Well, SoFA want to help you celebrate the last bit of the summer with free food, games and a chance for you to meet your faculty and fellow students.  Follow the music on Wednesday September 21st at 11:30 am in front of East Campus Hall (ECH) for pizza and picnic games (with some super-cool Fine Art faculty swag!).

2016 Sobey Award winner Abbas Akhavan was born in Tehran and lives in Toronto.
