Fine Arts faculty member Bojana Videkanić, along with alumna Žana Kozomora (BA ’15) and four other Yugoslav-Canadian artists – Tamara Vukov, Saša Rajšić, Sonja Zlatanova and Una di Gallo, have created a visual essay and provided their artwork for a series of articles under the title Yugosplaining. This large project, gathering more than twenty scholars, writers, artists and thinkers from the former Yugoslavia, position post-Yugoslav space in new ways and in relationship to what is currently taking place in the world. The artists’ visual essay entitled “Thinking and doing in-between” addresses the ways in which the former Yugoslav territories have been framed and reframed by Western political, economic, and cultural discourses.
