Fine Art Graduate student Paige Smith is one of the participating artists in this year's Lumen festival in uptown Waterloo. Paige's work, Handcrafted Celluloid: A Community Film, can be found at the Visitor and Heritage Information Centre, 10 Father David Bauer Dr, Waterloo on September 21 from 6 to 11 pm.

Come out and help create a collective moving-image painting and explore the art of manipulating film celluloid through mark-making. Dive into camera less filmmaking by drawing or painting directly onto 16mm film! Each participant will contribute their unique segment, which will be woven together into a single, community-created film.

Lumen is an annual, free, all-ages festival that features the work of artists as they explore the interplay of light, art, and technology in installations.
