Xuemei Lu, a fourth-year Fine Arts student, has an exhibition of her work at the Rotunda Gallery in Kitchener City Hall, 200 King Street W, Kitchener ON. The exhibition, Identity Symbiosis: the intertwined and blended spirits, runs through March and April with an opening reception on Friday, March 7 from 5-7 pm.
"The artist presents a series of mixed-media wall-hanging ceramic sculptures that combine two traditional craft techniques: clay coil-building and punch needle rug building. She believes traditional methods and the inspiration from nature reflect a deep-rooted, shared human experience and heritage that has been handed down over time. The contrasting materiality of these two mediums express her feelings as an artist with a minority cultural heritage." Rotunda Gallery website.
