Agreement for personal property pick-up

The Fine Arts Department wishes to thank you for your patience while we made the necessary arrangements for you to retrieve your personal belongings left behind when the building was closed in March 2020 due the Covid-19 pandemic. We recognize the difficulty and stress that this has caused. Please know that your personal property is completely safe and has not, and will not, be disposed of without your consent.

As a solution we have arranged a series of appointment times for current and past students to retrieve their personal belongings from East Campus Hall from the Winter 2020 term. The appointment structure has been chosen to help everyone stay safe during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Appointments for retrieving personal belongings left during the Winter 2020 term from inside of the Fine Arts Department’s facilities in East Campus Hall (ECH) are scheduled in 20-minute blocks.

Appointments can only be booked between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM Mondays to Fridays.

If you have not already done so please use this link to make an appointment. (appointment times are first-come first-serve).

We would like to encourage each individual to come to campus personally, however, we understand If you are unable to pick up your property because:

  • You are ill or have been ill within the past 14 days;
  • You are no longer living within reasonable traveling distance to the campus (outside of the region, outside of Southwestern Ontario/ the GTA, outside of the province, outside of the country etc.);
  • You are unable to arrange for transportation;
  • You are differently abled and access is a challenge;
  • You don’t feel safe coming to campus.

If any of these scenarios describes your situation, or you need to arrange for someone else to pick up your belongings on your behalf, then please instead contact Adam Glover and we will do our best to come up with a solution for you.

Do you intend to collect your artwork or personal property?
Do you currently have in your possession any Fine Arts Department property (tools, books, digital equipment)?
If yes, please make sure you bring it with you to your appointment. You will need to return it during your appointment so that you are not responsible for the replacement cost of the Fine Arts Department property in question.
Pick-up appointment considerations
Do you have your own non-medical face covering (like a cloth mask)?
If you do not, a disposable mask will be provided. Masks are required in all University of Waterloo buildings.
Does any of your art work require any sort of disassembly so that you can move it. Please give details in the box above?
UW Fine Arts Staff will de-install all of your work before you arrive at ECH, but will not dismantle your work. Tools for you to dismantle your own work when in the building will NOT be provided. You should bring whatever tools you require to dismantle your work with you to your appointment. You may also be required to carry your still assembled work to an outdoor location before disassembling it to fit into your vehicle.
Do you require the help of another individual to assist you when you are picking up your property?
A staff member will be with you at all times when you visit the building. They can provide assistance if necessary. However, a 2-meter distance will need to be maintained at all times.
Please read and acknowledge the following statements:
The novel coronavirus causes the disease known as COVID-19 and that there is currently a pandemic.
The novel coronavirus has a long incubation period during which carriers of the virus may not show symptoms and still be contagious. For this reason, I understand that the federal, provincial and University of Waterloo authorities have recommended that people stay home and avoid contact with other people when at all possible.
The federal and provincial and University of Waterloo authorities have asked individuals to maintain physical distances of at least 2 meters (6 feet) but I recognize it is not always possible to maintain this distance when entering East Campus Hall.
While strict cleaning protocols are being followed by University personnel, due to the visits of other individuals and the characteristics of the novel coronavirus, I have an elevated risk of contracting the novel coronavirus if I leave my home.
I will be required to wear a non-medical face covering (like a cloth mask) before entering ECH to help protect others I may encounter. If I am unable to wear a non-medical face covering I may not be permitted to enter the building.
If prior to my scheduled appointment, I become ill or come into contact with someone who is suspected to have contracted COVID-19 I must inform the Fine Arts Department administration by contacting Adam Glover (adam.glover@uwaterloo.ca) and stay away from ECH until I my illness has been resolved.
