A scholarship, valued at $10,000, will be awarded annually to a student who will be entering and be registered full time in a master’s or doctoral program in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering. Selection will be based on academic excellence, combined with demonstrated proof of research excellence. The department of Electrical and Computer Engineering will identify and select a recipient annually, based on their application for admission to the program. This fund is made possible by Phil Brace (BASc ’93 Computer Engineering) whose family has strong connections to Waterloo. Phil, his brother Colin (BMath ’96), and sister Amanda (Peel) Hutchinson (BSC ’04) are all proud alumni who credit their successful careers to their education and excellent co-op experience at Waterloo. Phil is happy to support the next generation of excellent Waterloo Engineering students.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
