Daniel G. Watt who was a member of the University of Waterloo's Laurel Society, bequeathed funds to the University of Waterloo. The Laurel Society recognizes individuals who make planned gifts to the University. Interest from the endowment will fund the Dan Watt Scholarships. The scholarships will be awarded annually to students with the highest averages entering the University of Waterloo, Department of History graduate program.
The Department Graduate Studies Committee will make the selection. The number of scholarships will depend on the interest earned on the endowment.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
