The Department of Philosophy Graduate Essay Prize has been established to provide funding to graduate students registered full time in a Master's or Doctoral program in the Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Waterloo. Recipients will be selected on the basis of scholastic excellence (minimum 80% cumulative average in their current program or over the last two full-time academic years) and the quality of a piece of written work submitted as part of their graduate program requirement. The Department of Philosophy will solicit nominations from faculty members. Adjudication from among nominated work will be carried out by a committee struck for the purpose by the Department, normally each Spring.

Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
