Two awards, each valued at $5,000, will be awarded annually to doctoral students registered full-time in Year Four or beyond in the School of Accounting and Finance in the Faculty of Arts, with a preference for students in Year Five. The award will be given based on demonstrated financial need as determined by Waterloo. To be considered, students must complete the Graduate Student Award Application found on the Graduate Studies website and submit it to Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs.
This fund is made possible by a donation from Harvey Bains and alumnus, Ben Kaak (BA ’82).

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
