Awards, valued between $500 - $2,000, are available annually to full-time undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in the Department of French Studies in the Faculty of Arts on the basis of academic performance while overcoming a significant personal challenge or crisis.
This award is made possible by a donation from Madhuri and Sri Ramakrishnan in honour of Francois Pare, for the incredible support and mentorship he gave their son, Vivek, through the completion of his BA, MA and PhD.
The goal is to provide at least one award valued at a minimum of $500 to a maximum of $2,000 annually. The period of the defined term award will be from 2022 to 2026; the first selection will be made in April 2022 and the last in April 2026.
An application is required by April 30 each year. Applications can be found on the Department of French Scholarships and awards web page.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
