Xuemin Shen Graduate Scholarship in Telecommunication

Award description: 

Scholarships with a value of at least $1,000 will be awarded annually to graduate students registered full time in the master’s or doctoral program in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering. Selection will be based on academic excellence (minimum cumulative average of 80% or equivalent in their current program or over the last two full-time academic years). Preference will be given to students specializing in the area of telecommunications research. This fund is made possible by donations from Dr. Shen’s family, his former student Dr. Xiaodong Lin, and alumni and friends of the Broadband Communications Research Lab (BBCR) to express their gratitude towards their graduate supervisor Dr. Xuemin (Sherman) Shen.

Eligibility & selection criteria: 
  • full-time graduate students registered in a master's or doctoral program in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering
  • selection to be based on academic excellence (minimum 80% cumulative average or equivalent in their current program or over the last two full-time academic years)
  • preference will be given to students specializing in the area of telecommunication research
  • the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering will identify candidates and select recipients normally each fall.
