Exceptional teachers are celebrated

The four winners of the Amit and Meena Chakma Award for Exceptional Teaching By a Student (AETS) have been named, and three of them are graduate students. Congratulations to Justin Schrier (Master's student in Physics and Astronomy), Mikaela Lewis (PhD student in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering) and Tandeep Sidhu (PhD candidate in Sociology and Legal Studies).

University of Waterloo student Sarah Rourke (BSc’23) will join the first global cohort of McCall MacBain Scholars at McGill University

The fourth-year Physics and Astronomy student is one of 20 Canadian recipients of the scholarship, the result of a landmark $200 million gift in 2019 by John and Marcy McCall MacBain. For the first time, this year’s cohort also includes international recipients.

New award launch: Graduate Student Research Dissemination Award (GSRDA)

Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) is pleased to announce the launch of the Graduate Student Research Dissemination Award (GSRDA). This new award will replace the Graduate Studies Conference Assistantship (GSCA) effective May 1, 2023.

Bursary opportunity re-launched for students impacted by conflict or risk

Originally launched in November 2022 with the support of generous donations, limited funding is still available to support undergraduate and graduate students registered at the University of Waterloo, through the Students-at-Risk Bursary. This program is available to students who have had their program of study disrupted by conflict, war or changing political environments in their country of origin or where they were last registered prior to relocating to Waterloo to continue their program.

The Office of Research is hosting a virtual workshop on "Time Management for Researchers," which will be held on March 24 (12:00 to 1:30 p.m.) and then again on March 29 (3:00 to 4:30 p.m.).
