On Thursday, July 23 the following email was sent to incoming graduate students for fall 2020
To: Incoming graduate students
From: Jeffrey Casello, Associate-Vice President, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA)
Subject: update on campus activities
As the University of Waterloo continues to plan for the fall 2020, below are some updates that were recently shared with the University of Waterloo community and that may also impact you, as incoming graduate students:
Action to take for research-based master’s and doctoral students: If you wish to engage in on-campus research activity during the fall 2020 term, you are encouraged to speak to your supervisor to assess whether the planned research meets the return to campus criteria.
As the next phases of access to university research facilities evolve, I will be sending further email updates and you can continue to visit the central University of Waterloo COVID-19 website. I also encourage you to connect with the University of Waterloo community by accessing Waterloo Grad Ready; a program to help you, as an incoming student, succeed at the University of Waterloo.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
