On December 6, 1989, 14 young women were murdered in a gender-bases act of violence at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal.
To remember and honour those tragically lost 30 years ago, the University of Waterloo will be hosting a special ceremony for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against women.
The University of Waterloo is participating alongside thirteen other universities in a nationwide memorial on the 30th anniversary. Each university will shine a beam of light into the sky to honour the 14 young women.
The beam of light will be stationed outside of Engineering 5 (E5), beginning at 5:00pm. As you pass by the light, we ask that you pay tribute with a moment of silence
