Faculty of Engineering Domestic Doctoral Student Award

Award description: 

Effective September 1, 2024, no new recipients will be selected for this award; previous commitments will continue to be honoured.

Annual awards valued at $8,500 will be given to eligible domestic students entering a doctoral program in the Faculty of Engineering in Winter 2015 or later. Students do not need to apply for the award as they will be considered automatically by their departments and will be nominated to the Engineering Graduate Studies Office who will make the final selection. 

The goal of the award is to: (1) support domestic doctoral students in the Faculty of Engineering by reducing the GRS funding support required from supervisors; (2) encourage greater capacity of faculty in the Faculty of Engineering to supervise domestic doctoral students; (3) encourage the timely completion of programs.

The annual amount of the award will be divided equally over 3 terms

Eligibility & selection criteria: 
  • Must be entering a full time Doctoral program in the Faculty of Engineering
  • Canadian/PR status
  • Students are expected to maintain good academic standing
  • Must not hold an external scholarship exceeding $3,000 for the duration of this award
  • Additional criteria may apply
