You can get involved with the HX Lab as part of your undergraduate studies - often conducting hands-on research leading to paper publications.
The HX Lab offers a small number Undergraduate Research Assistantships (URAs) during study terms. You will be able to lead a small research or development project, often in a team or with a graduate student mentor. Due to high demand and limited availability for these positions, please apply early - e.g., ~1 month before term begins.
The HX Lab sometimes hires undergraduate students for a full-time, term-long research experience. This can count as a co-op term, and may include additional funding from an Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA). If you are interested in a full-term research experience, please contact Prof. Schneider to discover available projects - or pitch your own!

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
