The Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office (SVPRO) is not a crisis service. If you are in crisis, please connect with one of the services below.

If you have an urgent non-crisis need we will do our best to meet with you as soon as possible.

Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centre - Kitchener Waterloo

The Waterloo Region Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centre is a 24/7 on call team of nurses and social workers who respond to the needs of individuals who have experienced sexual assault or domestic violence. The team can be accessed through the Emergency Departments at St. Mary’s General Hospital and Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Confidential treatment options will be offered for those accessing the team.

  • Can include medical care and treatment of injuries, pregnancy options, STI and drug screening, crisis support and safety planning, as well as evidence collection (survivors can talk about all or some of these topics). 

How to Access:

Come to the Emergency Department of St. Mary’s General Hospital or Cambridge Memorial Hospital. The team will be contacted to meet with you in private. For any other questions or concerns, or to arrange counselling please call our office at (519) 749-6994. If you are in immediate danger or crisis now, please call 911.

Walk-In Counseling Appointments - Waterloo Counseling Services It is recommended that, if possible, you speak with an Intake Specialists (located at Needles Hall North) before walk-in hours begin to see when an appointment is available. If your concern is urgent and it is later in the day, please still go to their offices to be seen by an Intake Specialist. 

Walk-in appointments are available on Wednesday and Thursday, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Victim Services of Waterloo Region
Victim Services of Waterloo Region 24/7 availability to attend the scene of a traumatic event, tragedy or crime to provide crisis intervention, critical stress debriefing, immediate emotional support and practical assistance.  

They also provide:
  • support in applying for financial assistance following an experience of sexual violence
  • information about court processes if charges have been laid against those who have caused harm.
