Open House to Celebrate Jean Becker’s Retirement

Join us in celebrating Jean Becker, Associate Vice-President, Indigenous Relations, for her outstanding leadership and lasting impact at the University of Waterloo. Since 2020, Jean has guided key initiatives including the Indigenous Strategic Plan and the creation of the Office of Indigenous Relations.

Come share your stories, gratitude, and warm wishes as we honour her contributions to truth and reconciliation. Tea and sweet treats will be provided. Registration is encouraged but not required.

On June 19th, in honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day, the Office of Indigenous Relations (OIR) and the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association (WUSA) invite you to a celebration at BMH Green. Join us for a vibrant lunchtime concert featuring talented Indigenous student musicians, artisans, and cultural showcases. Enjoy a free "Taco in a Bag" lunch and connect in community as we celebrate Indigenous cultures and voices.

Have A Heart Day

The Office of Indigenous Relations (OIR), University of Waterloo School of Architecture in Cambridge and Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Centre (SOAHAC) will be collaborating for a community gathering and social to be hosted on the evening of February 13, 2025. The evening will include a connection to culture, song, dance, crafts, activities for kids and more!

Indigenous Student Listening Session 1 (New Peer Mentorship Program)

We need your voice and input in the creation of the new Faculty-Based Indigenous Peer Mentorship Program. With your help we will be able to create a Mentorship Program that will help ease the transition of Indigenous Students into Post-Secondary.

We will be hosting listening sessions to give you the opportunity to voice your ideas in what the program needs, how we should implement it, and what the best form of training is.
