The Office of Indigenous Relations welcomes new team member
The Office of Indigenous Relations is pleased to announce Kevin George will join the Indigenous Relations team as the Indigenous Special Projects Coordinator, effective February 14, 2022. Kevin is Potawatomi and Cree and a member of the Chippewas of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation located on the shores of Lake Huron and has strong community connection to Fort McMurray 468 First Nation, his Cree community in Northern Alberta.
Kevin has been a University of Waterloo employee since 2020 and is coming to the Indigenous Relations team from Plant Operations. Kevin has project management, social media management, and communications experience gained through his employment experience, entrepreneurial ventures, business ownership, and broad volunteer experience. He is a community builder and has a long list of employment and volunteer experience within the community service sector including the Kitchener Waterloo Youth Basketball Association, Anishinaabeg Outreach and Chigamik Community Health Centre. Kevin is an active member of the growing Indigenous community on campus, including volunteering on Indigenous-focused campus initiatives.
Kevin has been pursuing undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo and will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree this coming June.
