Parking, approaching and entering

Parking:

Five accessible parking spaces located along west/left side of building (when facing)

Approaching from west/left side (facing building):

Ramp located between second and third accessible parking spaces
- leads to main entrance staircase
Second ramp located to right of main entrance staircase
- leads directly to automatic door entrance

Approaching from east/right side (facing building):

Ramp located to right of entrance staircase
Leads directly to automatic door entrance

Inside building

Elevators:

Pair of wheelchair accessible elevators located in main lobby (second floor) on left side (when entering building)

Telephones:

Campus call (if no personal phone access)
- visit main (second) floor Information or Circulation desks and ask staff to assist you
- if call urgent, speak with any Library staff for assistance
Urgent call (if no personal phone access)
- If you're on floors six to ten and you need immediate assistance, pick up safety phone located on wall to left of main elevator doors (when facing) for instant connection to Circulation desk

Washrooms:

Wheelchair accessible washrooms located:
- first floor (student study space)
  - room 134 (men's) directly to right when exiting main elevators
  - room 135 (women's) when exiting main elevators, move forward, then turn right past sets of chairs along right wall, make sharp right to entrance
- third floor
  - room 305 (men's) exit left off main elevators, entrance several steps ahead
  - room 307 (women's) exit left off main elevators, turn right past mens washroom, walk past 2 booths along left wall, entrance on left

Wheelchair accessible elevator located opposite Circulation desk on main floor

Telephones:

Wheelchair accessible pay telephones located outside Library near west entrance of Great Hall

Washrooms:

Wheelchair accessible washrooms located:
- close to RBC Information Commons (rooms 1920/1921)
- in Great Hall (rooms 1934/1935)

Witer Learning Resource Centre (WLRC - School of Optometry)

Parking, approaching and entering

Parking:

Three accessible parking spaces located in front of first floor entrance to Optometry addition (under large eye chart window)

Approaching from accessible parking spaces:

Flat entry with accessible doors to first floor of Optometry addition
- leads to main entrance elevator on right side wall, just inside eye chart entrance

Inside building

Elevator:

Wheelchair accessible elevator located just inside eye chart entrance along right side wall when entering building

Telephones:

Phone available at Circulation desk
- if you need assistance, speak with any staff

Washrooms:

Wheelchair accessible washrooms located:
- first floor of Optometry addition behind Eye Opener Café
- second floor of Optometry addition along hallway in front of WLRC

When entering building:

Please familiarize yourself with layout of building and your nearest exit in case of emergency

- Witer Learning Resource Centre (WLRC), floor plans located in Optometry addition, first floor on wall by elevator; second floor on wall by WLRC entrance

During fire alarm:

Note: elevators cannot be used once fire alarm triggered

If you require assistance to evacuate building:

If you're in the Dana Porter Library, you or your companion should use the safety phones
- safety phones automatically connect to University Police during alarm:
  - Identify floor and set of stairs nearest your location (e.g., Floor six, Stair B)
  - Move to stated stairwell and wait for assistance
Davis Centre and Witer Learning Resource Centre have phones at the circulation desk with emergency numbers displayed
- call campus police, 519-888-4567 ext, 22222 or 911

Dana Porter Library

Fire safety:

Floors six to ten not monitored by fire wardens
We strongly recommend that anyone who requires assistance during emergency evacuation be accompanied while using these floors

Exits:

Main floor (second floor), main entrance
Main floor, east side (through reference book shelves)
First floor, via stairwell A and stairwell B

Safety phones:

Located on floors six to ten on wall to left of main elevator doors (when facing)
- lifting handset automatically connects you to:
  - University Police during an alarm
  - Circulation Services under normal conditions

Davis Centre Library

Fire safety:

Basement floor not monitored by fire wardens
We strongly recommended that anyone who requires assistance during emergency evacuation be accompanied while using this floor
