The University’s employee accessibility training has been revised to include updates to both our own accessibility initiatives and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). By law, all University employees are required to take accessibility training and it must be up-to-date.
This new course was published on December 3, 2019 to coincide with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. At this time, all University employees will need to update their training, regardless of when they last completed accessibility training. When we’re all familiar with current accessibility requirements and practices, we are better positioned to fulfill our responsibility of being an inclusive and equitable campus.
Review the Accessibility training page for instructions on how to access the course. For any questions, contact Joyce Barlow, workplace accessibility specialist.
The amount of training depends on the level of public interaction and the nature of the person’s job (the materials are listed in the section below).

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
