Join Special Collections & Archives (SCA) in celebrating Pride Month at a Pride Zine Workshop. Learn about the history of zines and DIY publications in the LGBTQ+ community, discover SCA’s latest acquisitions to the Gender, Sexuality and Social Justice collection, and get crafty, making zine pages of your own!
Using free Canva software and prompts and images from SCA's collection, we’ll spend time creating digital zines. If you’re feeling extra creative, bring your own poetry, prose, art, etc... to add to your piece. Not digitally inclined? You can also create physical zine pages.
After the event, SCA will be gathering the zine pages created during the workshop, with permission from the creators, to digitally publish the work to live in SCA’s collection.
This event takes place on Zoom and involves a mix of presentation, question and answer discussion, and crafting time. You are welcome to join with your camera off and using a pseudonym if you are not comfortable sharing your identity.
