table and chairs

Where did the old Flex Lab tables go? "With the installation of new computer tables in the Flex Lab  on the 3rd floor of Porter Library, the old tables were given to the Faculty of Science about 3 weeks ago. As serendipity would have it, it was Science’s turn to host a once per term IT committee meeting I attend and this is where the tables ended up. (B1-266)." Photo submitted by Carl Nagel.

writing passage

This is from the diary of Talmon Henry Rieder, local industrialist, from Feb. 23rd, 1902. He is discussing how a rival has been to town wooing the girl he’s smitten with, Martha Anthes, but he’s pretty sure the fellow flubbed it. “…contented all day in the whole affair & I don’t think he accomplished anything. Ella & Effie passed some [one word illegible] sneers at any rate of which I formed my conclusions. I had splendid opportunities to be with M afterwards but did not avail. She is still the girl of my choice and I hope soon to tell my little desire…” The best I can do is “Tearcastable”, which the rest of the department finds highly dubious. Can you do better? Talmon eventually marries Martha in 1906. Learn more about the Rieders. Photo submitted by Martha Lauzon.

Origami

I came back to work on Wednesday to find that my office was heavily guarded in my absence with x-wing fighters and millennium falcons. Origami made by Carmen Peters. Photo submitted by Mary Lynne Bartlett.

Food

Goodies galore at the Catalogue department’s coffee break. Photo submitted by Carmen Peters.
