Library Lens - Week 49

This is the last issue of the first year of Library Lens.

The Outreach Committee would like to thank everyone who submitted photos throughout the year and who gave us such positive feedback on this new feature. We hope you've enjoyed it as much as we have.

We're happy to say Library Lens will continue next year...so stay tuned!

Library Lens - week 44

The weather may have turned cool, but it didn't dampen the spirits of library staff!

Library Lens - week 43

It was an exciting week in the library with lots of costumes and treats!

Alex Dobre and Carmen Peters set up a fun photo booth in their office space to raise money for the United Way. Library staff had fun dressing up in the various costumes and props! Photo submitted by Alex Dobre.

Library Lens - Week 42

Another busy week in library land and staff members have kept a sharp eye open for interesting subjects to share.

"[Tuesday] at Musagetes we were visited by a violin-playing goat who kicked off a thesis defense we hosted in our reading corner," writes Sara Perkins.  Submitted by Sara.

Library Lens - Week 39

This week seems a little bit quieter on Library Lens.

It's Frosh Week on campus!

Library Lens - Week 33

The last week of summer is upon us and the Frosh arrive this weekend!

"Aiden came to visit Grandpa (Alex McCulloch) this past Wednesday. What a cutie!" Photo submitted by Karen Davidson.

Library Lens - Week 32

Nothing really exciting happens on campus during the quiet of intersession.  Or does it?

"It's strange to see the building so empty and quiet!  The calm before the fall storm ;)"  Photos submitted by Jamie Reilly.

Library Lens - Week 31

As exams come to an end, many library staff are still hoping for summer weather to come as we enter intersession.

Library Lens - Week 30

A long weekend and the summer days in and out of the library.

With much help from her son Ben, Esther Millar spent the long weekend building a path, spreading mulch, and cleaning up around the new garden shed that was installed in July. Photo submitted by Esther Millar.

Library Lens - Week 29

The weather may have been cool, but it didn't dampen the spirits of library staff!

A special surprise greeted Patrick Miller when he arrived at the office on Tuesday.  Happy Birthday Patrick! Photo submitted by Laurie Strome.

Library Lens - Week 26

We received a colourful collection of photos this week...

Library Lens - Week 25

An impressive number of submissions for this away-from-work edition of the Library Lens. Good job, everyone!

Library Lens - Week 15

This week brings us several photos across many departments!

Laurie Kaufman writes, "The Hoya plant at my desk is blooming. Spring is officially here even if it doesn’t feel like it outside. There are 4 bunches of flowers on it."

Library Lens - Week 14

This week's photos have captured some Library Fun!

Kathy Szigeti discovered this paper installation on April 14th in DC Library by the stand up computers. Possibly created by a student as a means to de-stress? Lift others' spirits? Or simply a product of procrastination!?

Library Lens - Week 13

This week's photos capture spring, growth and teamwork!

Library Lens - Week 12

This week's submissions combine the past and the present in both pictorial and textual formats!

Library Lens - Week 11

This week's submissions come from library staff in Porter and Davis Circulation and Library Technology & Facilities Services. Subjects include a quiet corner behind the scenes, colleagues pausing to celebrate an anniversary, the return of the University's unofficial mascot, the wintry weather, a back stage peek at technology, and a prize winner.

Library Lens - Week 10

Spring arrived yesterday, at least officially. Is there perhaps a touch of seasonal fever in this week's submissions? Outreach hopes you enjoy these photos from staff in Circulation (Resource Sharing), Musagetes, Cataloguing, Porter ISR, and Library Technology & Facilities Services.

Library Lens - Week 9

What an interesting week it has been!  March was a lamb for a few days, and people dared to cast off their winter coats.  But then the lion came roaring back on Wednesday.

"A couple of students take advantage of [last] Friday’s above-zero temps by playing “aerobie” (i.e. Frisbee) outside the Porter Library," notes Talsan Schulzke.

Library Lens - Week 8

From library staff on the job to colourful blooms, from furniture art to the daily commute -- a wide range of subjects inspires a click of the shutter.  This week's Library Lens features photos from staff in Library Office (Davis & Porter), Cataloguing and Circulation.

Library Lens - Week 7

From line-ups to books, and from snow to dreams of spring. While we're all trying to stay warm in these frigid temperatures, some library staff have found ways to imagine spring is coming!

Ahmed Kenawy captured this photo of the line up for the Davis public printers one evening this week.

Library Lens - Week 6

It's been a short, quiet week - with Family Day and Reading Week. Peaceful winter scenes, waiting for patrons at the desk, and the usual (?) elevator repair job.

Some beautiful frosted trees along the Grand River greeted Sara Perkins on her walk in from the parking lot last week. Photo by Sara Perkins.

Library Lens - Week 5

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! We definitely have a Valentine's theme going on today.

Library Lens - Week 4

From delicious treats, to workshops, to office decor -- staff are making the best of these cold, wintry days and even taking time to enjoy the sunsets.

"Delicious rolls Deborah Lee brought in to celebrate Chinese New Year." Photo submitted by Alex McCulloch.

Library Lens - Week 3

Library graffiti, a colleague's book, a department fridge. You never know what will inspire library staff to pull out their cameras! This week's Library Lens includes photos from staff members in Porter ISR, Pharmacy, Davis ISR, and Circulation.

Library Lens - Week 2

Can taking photos for the Library Lens distract you from the pain of this freezing week? (Outreach likes to think "yes"!) This week's Library Lens showcases photos submitted by staff from ISR, Circulation, and Musagetes.

Library Lens - Week 1

Welcome to the first week of the Library Lens!

We had some great submissions from staff members in Cataloguing, Circulation, and Digital Initiatives this week, showing us the finer aspects of ordering a book, decorating your department's fridge, opening the book drop after the holiday break, multi-tasking, and wishing "happy retirement" to a valued colleague.
