Flex LabFlex Lab

Josh Schmiedchen submits, "The hardworking staff of Library Technology and Facilities Services (LTFS) worked round the clock the last few weeks to assemble the Flex Lab with new Flip It computer tables and install virtual desktop thin clients into the desks so that staff and students can be trained in a variety of ways as the new desks are mobile and can be arranged into a number of different configurations for conferences or training courses. The monitors can be folded down into the desk so when you don’t need a computer you can have a desk to work on or can put them together and use them to have a meeting or collaborate on a project. Very flexible.”

French dancer, Auguste Vestris (1760 – 1842)

Nick Richbell submits, "From the Archives: a bronze of the French dancer, Auguste Vestris (1760 – 1842) created in 1834 by the French portrait sculptor, Jean-Pierre Dantan (1800 – 1869). This impressive piece is from the Henry H. Crapo Dance Collection (GA 43) which includes 2 scrapbooks related to the Vestris Prize for Choreography. Dr. Crapo also donated the bronze boar, Porcellino, to the Descartes Foundation at the University of Waterloo".

Plants in the Library

Nancy submits, "The Library's Health, Safety, and Wellness Committee is teaming up with FEDS' Waterloo Sustainable Initiative (WSI) to bring more plants to the public spaces in the Dana Porter and Davis Centre libraries. FEDS' WSI purchased and delivered approximately 10 plants to the Dana Porter Library last Friday. We will be sending about half of these over to DC later this week. We will be looking for "plant champions" at both libraries to help care for these plants."
