Laurie Strome found some "musings on the Porter colouring table" and Deborah Lee explains that the writer "is using some of General Cao Cao's wording to express his situation now. This patron has sound Chinese literature knowledge, skills, and a sense of humour [...] Around AD 208, General Cao Cao [was] a great military strategist, politician, and litterateur [of the] Han Dynasty." Deborah Lee provided a translation of the text below. Submitted by Laurie Strome and Deborah Lee.

Josh Schmiedchen reports that he "hosted several 'lunch and learns' on August 4th, 6th, 11th, and 13th to inform staff of the new touchscreen project available for meetings, etc., located on the fourth floor of the Dana Porter Library." If you missed the chance to learn about this new piece of equipment available to Library staff please let Josh know because he's also offering 1-on-1 training sessions.
Josh witnessed a "Great Chair Migration" this week! He saw a wandering chair "alone in the middle of the field behind the Grad House. It seems that the chairs are fed-up with being in exams and want to be outside as well."
More excellent student artwork! Josh "found this drawing on the table in the Dana Porter Lobby and had to take a picture of it for a friend. It's a great piece of art done by a student!" Submitted by Josh Schmiedchen.
Alex McCulloch is enjoying some time in Nova Scotia this week. He writes that the yoke of oxen in the picture above "are not working oxen anymore -- in fact [...] they are for sale for $4,500 for the pair. There's a well-known fair in Bridgewater each year that features ox-pulling contests, among other events. They get about 30 teams of oxen." Submitted by Alex McCulloch.
