Managing your thesis with Word and RefWorksExport this event to calendar

Wednesday, March 1, 2017 — 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM EST

Theses and other long documents can present challenges that shorter documents don't, including maintaining a standard "look and feel" throughout. Discover tools that make formatting your thesis, and citing your sources, easier and less time consuming. This session is co-sponsored by the Library, the Office of Academic Integrity and Information Systems and Technology (IST).

The section on Microsoft Word will cover:

  • styles
  • headings
  • page numbering
  • captioning tables and figures
  • footnotes
  • cross references
  • table of contents
  • lists of tables and figures

RefWorks is an online tool that allows you to manage your references, insert them into the body of your document in your required citation style, and generate a bibliography with the click of a button. The RefWorks component will include:

  • setting up an account
  • importing citations from various databases
  • managing your citations
  • using the Write-n-Cite plugin to add your citations to Word
