Employer Support
Historically, those students employed full-time with a Big Four accounting firm during the first co-op term have received one-half of the second term tuition from their employer. Similarly, those students employed full-time with a Big Four accounting firm during the second co-op term have received one-half of the third term tuition from their employer. There are some conditions that apply.

Master of Taxation Entrance Scholarship
The Master of Taxation Entrance Scholarship is awarded to a limited number of incoming full-time students whose past achievements demonstrate academic excellence. To be eligible for consideration for this scholarship of $3,500, students will have completed a four-year honours undergraduate degree within the past five school years, and have completed two advanced-level tax courses as part of the degree requirements. No application is necessary. An award winner(s) is selected from within the group of incoming students who meet the qualifying conditions.
Provincial Student Assistance Programs
Provincial support through programs such as the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) can provide assistance to eligible students based on financial need. For further information visit your provincial student aid website, including the OSAP website.

Please use the finances area in Quest as your primary source of account information. If you have any problems please contact Joyce Becker immediately as your tuition must be paid for you to remain in the program.
Fee deadlines
Please ensure that you pay your tuition promptly before the fee deadline. Fees can be paid via online banking, or directly at the bank. The Student Financial Services page provides information regarding tuition due dates and late fees; however, for the Master of Taxation (MTax) withdrawal and refund policy please see notes below.
University of Waterloo bursaries
There are a number of bursaries available to full-time graduate students at the University of Waterloo who are experiencing short-term financial need.
Bursary forms are available from the Graduate Studies Office (GSO), at the forms page.
Students may apply once per term, deadlines are three times per year (please see the Bursary Application for details).
Please note that bursary funding is not available to first-term graduate students.
Withdrawal and refund policies
First term:
- 100% before the start of classes (less a $50.00 withdrawal service charge).
- 80% during the first three weeks following the start of classes.
- 0% thereafter.
All other terms:
- 100% before start of classes (less a $50.00 withdrawal service charge).
- 0% after the start of classes.
Voluntary withdrawal form:
- Must be completed and returned to us for the withdrawal/refund to be processed.
- Can be found online at Graduate Studies.
