Math Business and Accounting students compete in the “Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM)”

Tuesday, May 4, 2021

During the Winter 2021 term, a team consisting of two FARM students Katherine (Xinyi) Hu (4B) and Mavis Xiao (4B) participated in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM), an international contest for high school students and college undergraduates. It challenges teams of students to clarify, analyze, and propose solutions to open-ended problems. The contest attracts diverse students and faculty advisors from over 900 institutions around the world.

With so many and diverse teams participating, experience gained by the team would be immensely helpful for future events. We would like to thank Katherine and Mavis for representing the Math Business Accounting Programs in the contest, and also to thank Dr. Michael Liu and Dr. Arash Soleimani-Dahaj for their valuable advice and support in the run-up to and during the competition.
