The University of Waterloo's Ring Road is a 2.7km curvy road with many intersections that represents an urban driving environment with pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles. WATonoBus is a project to make autonomous vehicles safe and reliable for urban driving in any weather condition.
Three fully equipped WATonoBus with Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) connectivity are used in a cross-disciplinary research for enabling Level 4-5 automated driving.
All sensors data from WATonoBus are available to anyone working on autonomous driving.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Indigenous Initiatives Office.
