The Peace and Conflict Studies program is pleased to welcome you to a special brown bag lunchtime discussion with Paul Rogers on the topic of “Peace Research in a Turbulent World” on Wednesday, November 7^th from 12:00-1:30pm in Conrad Grebel University College, room 2202.

Join us as we uncover the role that International Humanitarian Law (IHL) plays as an instrument of peace. This conference will address disarmament and arms control, the importance of education in conflict and peace times as well as health and disability in armed conflict. We will hear from experts in the field, including academics, practitioners, and representatives from the Canadian Red Cross society.

Conrad Grebel University College and Mennonite Central Committee Ontario are excited to be hosting Ray & Vi Donovan from the United Kingdom as guest speakers for Restorative Justice Week in November.  As parents of an 18 year old boy murdered in the street 16 years ago, they work passionately to give voice to a restorative justice approach, through education and creating system change in areas such as policing and probation.  

The Master of Peace and Conflict Studies program will be hosting an information session on Tuesday, January 15th at 5:30PM.

There are so many ways to enhance your PACS degree with different experiential learning opportunities! Incorporating these elements into your degree will provide you with additional skills and experience, and help your degree stand out once you graduate. Snacks will be provided!

War is not inevitable. It can be limited, if not defeated outright, by law fairly applied and enforced. As we reflect on Remembrance Day, and note the 70th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions that were developed to restrict the impact of war, come hear David Crane, Founding Chief Prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone who investigated, indicted, and prosecuted Charles Taylor, the first sitting head of state for war crimes and crimes against humanity, talk about how law can make war less likely, or at least less lethal.

Drawing on local community partners involved in drone technologies and their applications, the "Cultural Life of Drones" explores how conversations about visual culture, technology, privacy, commercialization, safety, peace building and ultimately, the question of our shared humanity, can be brought into public dialogue via art.  

The Master of Peace and Conflict Studies program is a dynamic degree that focuses on careers in the field of peacebuilding. The department will be hosting an information session for interested students on Monday, December 2nd at 5:30PM.
