Yasmin SaikiaDr. Yasmin Saikia is the Hardt-Nickachos Chair in Peace Studies and Professor of History at the Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict at Arizona State University. Her recent book Women, War and the Making of Bangladesh: Remembering 1971 (2011) has won numerous awards and been the subject of an international speaking tour.

Film Screening of "Tickling Giants" and PACS 40th Kick Off

The PACS Student Society is hosting a screening of Tickling Giants to kick off the Fall 2017 term, and the celebrations of the PACS 40th anniversary year.

Tickling Giants is about Dr. Bassem Youssef, the "Egyptian Jon Stewart", who leaves his job as a heart surgeon and become a late-night comedian in Egypt. The film tells the story of how he uses his late-night comedy show as a creative and nonviolent method of protecting free speech and a leader who abuses power.

Conrad Grebel University College is co-hosting the Waterloo film premiere of The Eagle and the Condor - From Standing Rock with Love with the Waterloo Indigenous Student Centre at St. Paul's University College.
